Energy Awareness At School

A way to get energy saving awareness at school is by putting posters all around the school. There's many different designs you can play around with. If you're creative and use bright colors then it will draw attention to your poster and will get people interested in the point you're trying to get across. This strategy also works at work too.

Energy Saving Tips

Waisting water uses electricity by supplying water to residents in the town/city. If you use less water then you can use less electricity and save money. Using less water can cut down water bills and save water for the oceans. By using less water you can also cut down carbon dioxide from forming in the air because water plants won't be working as long. Please turn off your water when doing this like dishes and brushing your teeth.

Water Heating

by Meghan Terwilliger

The most efficient systems right now are generally gas-fired, but if you have an oil-fired boiler, you can purchase an indirect tank that connects to your boiler. Electric water heaters are not reccommended. If you have a water heater and natural gas is available to you, a switch may save you a lot of money. Even though electric models have a higher energy factor than fuel-burning models.

Solar Power

by Meghan Terwilliger

Solar power is a energy source that takes the heat the sun generates and tranforms it into energy we need to run everything in our house. There are three main ways we use the Sun's energy. One is called solar cells which converts light directly into electricity. Another is called solar water heating where heat from the Sun is used to heat water from glass panels in your roof. The last one is called solar furnaces which use a huge array of mirrors to concentrate the Sun's energy into a small space and produce very high temperatures. Solar power is a great resource and should be used sparingly.

Energy Efficient Fuel Source: Liquid Petroleum Gas

by: Meghan Terwilliger

Liquid Petroleum Gas is a byproduct of petroleum refining. It's made of hydrocarbons that are vapors, rather than liquids, at normal temperatures and pressures. It's main constituent is propane.
Barbecue grills and portable heaters run on liquid pertroleum gas. Most of the alternative fuel used in the United States. Liquid petroleum gas is safer than gasoline. it's also cheaper than gas in most places. Because this gas enters the engine as a vapor, it doesn't wash oil off cylinder walls or dilute the oil when the engine is cold, and it also doesn't put carbon particles and sulfuric acid into the oil. Everyone should switch to this energy efficient liquid petroleum gas.

Non Polluting Car

by Meghan Terwilliger

Is it possible that there is a non pulluting car out there? There is now. The Honda FCX Clarity runs on Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology and goes 270 miles on a full tank. Instead of an engine, this car runs on an electric motor fueled with Hydrogen Cells. These cells convert Hydrogen into electricity. The problem with this is that you must be able to refuel the car and Hydrogen fuel stations are few and very distant. I hope one day I can see this car cruise down the street.
