ways to save electricity in your fridge.

by: bag

these are some of the ways to save money with your refrigerator.

1. turn your thermostat between 36 & 38 degrees f.

2. turn your freezer between 0 &5 degrees f.

3. move it to a cooler location.

4. replace with a new energy star rated fridge.

5. keep your freezer full and let items cool before placing into freezer/fridge.

6. check your sealings making sure no air is escaping.

these steps could be saving you hundreds of dollars in energy every month.

Plant a Tree Today

By Xena

Do you know the saying, "Plant a Tree Today For All The World To Share?" Well, I bet you are wondering how, exactly, that works. Trees are a type of renewable resource, they take in Co2, or Carbon Dioxide and they take out oxygen, which is what us, people and lots of animals too, need to survive. They help reduce the amount of CO2 in our environment, and the world.

But that's not all it's good for, trees can also be used for biofuel, and biofuel is also a renewable resource. Instead of using oil, and gas, and other resources that pollute the earth, you could use biofuel. And biofuel is made out of stuff like trees. So overall, trees are really good for us and the environment.

There is a negative about trees, though. When you cut the trees down for wood, and when you burn the wood, it can pollute the Earth, and it could stay that way if you are not careful. Industries that do that plant another tree to replace the one which was chopped down.

If you care about the future of our planet, you should lend a hand a plant a tree today, because you really are sharing the wonders of it with the world.

Pollution Creating Energy

By:Chaaya

Can pollution be turned into a "save energy" source? This question has been asked many times over the past few years. A researcher at the Center for Biotechnology may have the possible answer. The program is out of Arizona State University. They are develpoing a new technology that may possibly extract electricity from pollution and organic waste products. These researchers also have a bigger hope; that their biological fuel cells will help slow down global warming. The cells would clean up some of the excess carbon dioxide. Another way this new technology would help the community is by lowering the pollution/waste problems caused by the ever so increasing population. In the future look forward to seeing new information about this new energy technology.

U value - by Hezikia

Do you know what your U-value is. The U value is the rate of heat loss through objects such as a house. The higher your U-value the more heat is lost. Old office bulidings are especially efficeint this way. Since they were bulit in times before air conditioning they were built to have a low U-value. Some office buildings today are being built to have a low U-value. These techniques include deeper widows to allow less light in. Also thicker walls made out of substances like concrete.

The 4 R's

By: Chaaya

There are 4 R's in the energy and real world. They are reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink. By following these rules we can be on our way to having a more "green" earth. By using more recycled matericals it can save ecosystems. Using less aluminum and bauxite ore there can be a 95% decrease in energy usage, 97% of water pollution and 95% from air pollution. I mean even recycling can help. Many things now adays are trying to be made out of recycled trash, glass and plastic.

If paper with recycled solution in paper would cut back on energy by 33%, water pollution by 35% and air pollution by 73%. Just think, if 3 people on every block recycled and used recycled paper! With everyone in the world how much energy could we save. There is no limit we have to saving energy. Recycled steel and tin cans save 74% less energy. Next time that you are drinking soda or thinking about throwing away old school assignment, recycle. Remember the 4 R's reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink.
